Ten Weeks of Good-byes
2008-09-23
Queen Elizabeth 2 called at Boston today, something that she's done 49 time before, but this is a special visit. It will be the last time the legendary liner will ever visit the city.As you probably know, QE2 is being retired exactly ten weeks from today, and at almost every port she visits from now until that day in November, it will be her last time there, and each community will say good-bye in their own way. In Boston's case today, the Middlesex County Fifes & Drums will play for her on the pier as she casts off, and then she will be escorted out of the harbor by a flotilla of local boaters lead by a fireboat giving her a traditional water cannon salute.
